Disney Vacation Planning Without the Overwhelm

A Disney vacation should feel exciting, not like a second job.

Between choosing a resort, deciding how many park days you need, making dining plans, understanding Lightning Lanes, figuring out transportation, building a realistic budget and trying to keep everyone in the family happy, planning Walt Disney World can get complicated fast.

7220 Travel helps families turn all of those moving pieces into one organized vacation plan.

Whether you're planning your family's first Walt Disney World vacation, returning to experience something new, visiting Disneyland or setting sail with Disney Cruise Line, you'll find free planning resources here to help you get started.

And when you're ready to stop researching and start planning, I'll help you build the trip around your family, not somebody else's perfect Disney vacation on social media.

Your Disney Vacation Should Fit Your Family

There isn't one "right" way to visit Disney. Some families want to rope drop every park and stay until closing. Some want character meals, princesses and every attraction possible. Others want slower mornings, pool afternoons, great restaurants and plenty of time to simply enjoy being together.

That's why my approach to Disney vacation planning starts with one question: What would make this trip unforgettable for your family?

At 7220 Travel, we can help you sort through:

  • Walt Disney World Resort options
  • Park tickets and park-day strategy
  • Magic Kingdom planning
  • EPCOT planning
  • Disney's Hollywood Studios planning
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom planning
  • Lightning Lane strategies
  • Disney dining
  • Transportation
  • Resort selection
  • Rest days
  • Park Hopper options
  • Family and multigenerational travel
  • Packing
  • Special experiences
  • Disney Cruise Line
  • Disneyland vacations

Instead of trying to copy someone else's itinerary, we build a vacation around your priorities, travel style, children, budget and must-do experiences.

Plan Each Disney Park With Confidence

Every Walt Disney World park is different. What works at Magic Kingdom isn't necessarily the best strategy for EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. Download the park guide you need, or grab all four.

Castle views are easy. Deciding what to do with dozens of attractions, character experiences, dining choices and entertainment options takes a little more planning. EPCOT Planning Guide

EPCOT is much more than a collection of rides. Between attractions, World Showcase, festivals, dining and entertainment, families can easily underestimate how much time they may want here. Use the guide to understand the park, identify your family's priorities and make room for both attractions and exploration.

Make Disney Yours

Your Disney Vacation Isn't on Social Media

One of the easiest ways to make a Disney vacation stressful is trying to recreate somebody else's trip.

Their kids aren't your kids. Their budget isn't your budget. Their must-do attractions aren't necessarily yours. A successful Disney vacation isn't measured by how many attractions you completed. It's measured by whether your family enjoyed being there together.

That might mean

  • A rest day between parks
  • Sleeping in
  • One incredible character meal
  • An afternoon at the resort pool
  • Three must-do experiences instead of thirty
  • Skipping an attraction everyone says you "have to" ride
  • Letting your kids help choose the day's priorities

Disney World With Kids

Because kids don't vacation like adults.

A child who is tired, hungry, overheated or overwhelmed doesn't care how carefully you planned the next Lightning Lane. Traveling to Disney with children means planning around more than attractions.

Our family-focused resources cover

  • Midday breaks and park pacing
  • Strollers
  • Snacks and hydration
  • Transportation and rest
  • Children's priorities
  • What to do when plans change

Traveling Disney With Sick Kids

Nobody plans for a sick day at Disney, but families should know what to do.

Kids don't check vacation calendars before getting sick. This guide helps parents think through what to do when a child becomes sick during a Disney vacation, including how to adjust expectations, reorganize the day and put their child's needs ahead of the itinerary.

The Non-Disney Spouse Guide

"Disney isn't really my thing." Sound familiar?

Not everyone walking through the gates dreams about character autographs and Mickey ears, and that's okay. Disney has plenty to discover beyond traditional fandom: great restaurants, architecture, transportation, Star Wars, LEGO, resorts, scenery, engineering details and simply watching your family experience something new. This guide was created for the person going on the vacation because someone they love wants to go.

Disney Vacation Planning Checklist

Know what needs to happen, and when.

One of the biggest sources of Disney planning stress is wondering, "Am I forgetting something?" Use the 7220 Travel checklist to organize important planning steps before your vacation.

Keep track of

  • Travel arrangements and resort accommodations
  • Park tickets
  • Dining and transportation
  • Important planning dates
  • Park, experience and restaurant priorities

Dining

Disney Dining Planning

Don't pick restaurants just because someone online said they're "the best."

Disney dining can become an experience of its own, but the best restaurant for one family may be completely wrong for another. Character dining? A relaxed dinner after a park day? Something adventurous? A restaurant your kids will actually eat at? Our dining worksheet helps families identify what they want from their meals before building reservations around them.

Free guides are a great place to start. But eventually you'll have to turn all that information into an actual vacation. That's where I come in.

Hi, I'm Dave Engel, owner of 7220 Travel, Family and Group Travel Experts. My approach to Disney started from the same place many of my clients do: as a parent trying to figure out how to create a great family vacation without wasting time, money or opportunities.

I don't believe every family needs the exact same Disney trip. I want to know what your family cares about, what would disappoint your kids if they missed it, what would make the adults say "that was worth it," how much downtime your family actually needs, and which experiences matter enough to build a day around. Then we work backward from those answers.

Let's plan your Disney vacation

Disney Vacation Planning FAQ

Is using a travel agent for Disney World worth it?

For many families, the value is less about simply making a reservation and more about having someone help organize the dozens of decisions surrounding the vacation. A travel advisor can help narrow accommodations, ticket options, park plans and other choices based on the family's needs instead of leaving travelers to sort through thousands of online opinions.

When should I start planning a Disney World vacation?

Starting early generally provides more time to consider accommodations, park priorities, dining and the overall vacation budget. The ideal timeline depends on your travel dates, flexibility and what experiences are most important to your family. Planning Disney World for 2027? You can start the conversation now.

How many days should my family spend at Disney World?

There is no universal number. It depends on your children, travel style, budget, parks you want to experience and whether you want rest days. Some families want four consecutive park days. Others enjoy Disney much more when park days are separated by resort or relaxation days.

Which Disney World park is best for kids?

That depends heavily on the children. Magic Kingdom is often associated with classic Disney attractions, while Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios each offer completely different experiences. Rather than choosing based on age alone, consider your child's favorite characters, attractions and interests.

Do we need Lightning Lanes at Disney World?

Not necessarily. Lightning Lane can be a helpful tool, particularly depending on crowd levels, attraction priorities and how your family prefers to tour the parks. But it shouldn't automatically be treated as mandatory for every family or every park day. Your vacation strategy should determine whether it makes sense, not social media pressure.

Should we stay at a Disney resort or off property?

Both can make sense. The right answer depends on budget, family size, transportation, room preferences, amenities and how much time you plan to spend at Walt Disney World. This is one of the first decisions I help families evaluate.

Can 7220 Travel plan Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line vacations too?

Yes. 7220 Travel helps families plan Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line vacations, along with cruises, family vacations, group travel and other destinations.

Stop Researching. Start Getting Excited.

You could spend the next three months watching videos, reading Facebook groups, comparing spreadsheets and wondering whether the stranger on Reddit with twelve Disney trips knows your family better than you do. Or we can build a trip around what your family actually wants.
